Are all of the resorts doing mobile check in? We are arriving very late at the Fort Wildness Campground in August. Can we just get a text message and go straight to our camp space without dealing with a front desk?

    Howdy Paula!

I'm so excited to hear you've got a Walt Disney World Resort vacation in the works, with a stay at the The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort!

Fans of nature and the great outdoors love camping right in the middle of the magic of Walt Disney World. The woodsy retreat offers all the amenities Guests need to have a comfortable stay under the stars, all just moments away from four amazing theme parks, two fantastic water parks, and the shopping and dining paradise of Disney Springs. Nestled into 750 acres of pine and cypress, you're sure to love the natural beauty of the Campsites at Fort Wilderness.

As Walt Disney World Returns to a World of Magic, enhanced health safety measures have been put in place to best provide Guests and Cast Members with a safe environment during this time. I wanted to make sure I had the most current information regarding check-in procedures for your vacation, so I called Fort Wilderness and also chatted with a Cast Member on the Walt Disney World Resort website.

Guests of the campsites can use the Online Check-In feature in their My Disney Experience account, online or through the My Disney Experience mobile app. On check-in day, when your campsite becomes available, you will receive a message to let you know when it's time to set up camp! The information I received also stated, "Guests in recreational vehicles and those planning to tent camp will remain in their vehicles and register at one of several drive-through windows at the Reception Outpost." So, while you will check in using My Disney Experience, you will still need to drive through the reception area before proceeding to your campsite. Please note that as your vacation isn't until August, the current check-in procedures are subject to change. I encourage you to call to clarify the most up-to-date check in process as your vacation dates get closer. You can reach Fort Wilderness directly at (407) 824-2727.

You can find a list of current offerings and experiences at Disney's Fort Wilderness and Campground here. I recommend a visit to Meadow Snack Bar to grab an order of Meadow's Loaded Chips - delicious chips, topped with pulled pork, cheese sauce and jalapenos - YUM!

I hope this helps with your vacation planning! Please come back and visit us here at planDisney if you have more questions before your visit.
