Hi Karen! That is an excellent question! In the past, I have chosen our resorts based on our budget and what my kids have liked. For example, I planned for us to stay at Disney's All Star Movies because at the time our daughter absolutely loved Toy Story. We were fortunate have a Disney offer to be upgraded to a Moderate Resort for the Value Resort price and chose Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. We chose this resort because we loved the Mayan Pyramid Pool area and Dig Site for our girls.
After staying at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, we fell in love with the Moderate Resorts and decided that we would stay at a different Moderate Resort each time that we vacationed. Traveling during Value Season was a big help for this goal. We chose Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort next, because we loved that each Village had its own Beach and the colorful buildings seemed very island like. Caribbean food is also a family favorite. For our next vacation, we decided to stay at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside. We now had our son and needed accommodations for 5. We loved the idea of staying in the Bayou and the trundle bed was perfect for our oldest daughter. Well, we became Disney Vacation Club members prior to our completing our goal to stay at each Moderate Resort, but I can tell you that Port Orleans Resort- French Quarter was going to be next. We visited the French Quarter during our stay at Riverside and loved the Mardi Gras theme.
Karen, Value Season is November 28th - December 16th and you can use this to your advantage. Visit
www.disneyworld.com and look at the many accommodations available. With 2 small children, the Deluxe resorts on the Monorail line might be very appealing. You can compare the resorts within their resort category and choose the Hotel Resort that best fits you and your family's liking. Hope this helps.
