Hi Arlene! Welcome to planDisney.
My idea of vacation bliss is sitting on a balcony at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, enjoying a cup of coffee, a gorgeous view, and people I love. Some of my favorite Walt Disney World Resort memories involve balcony time: watching giraffes from our Savanna View room at
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, enjoying Magic Kingdom Park fireworks in our PJs at
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort, and taking in the sunrise in a peaceful nature setting at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. I feel relaxed just writing about it!
Rooms at
Deluxe Resort Hotels and
Deluxe Villas come with balconies or, if you are assigned a ground-floor room, patios. There may be some cases in which a room is configured or located in such a way that there is not a balcony in the room, but these cases are rare. The exception I can think of is that the Garden Wing rooms at Disney's Contemporary Resort do not have balconies. If a balcony is very important to you, I recommend calling (407) 939-1936 and requesting a room with a balcony; while requests are not guaranteed, it's been my experience that Cast Members will do their best to accommodate you. A few years ago I was assigned a ground-floor room and I politely asked the Cast Member at the front desk if I could be assigned a higher-floor room because I was traveling alone - I did have to wait for a new room, but they were lovely and helpful in finding me a new spot.
Arlene, the resort hotels with balconies are: Disney's Grand Floridian Resorts & Spa, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney's Beach Club Resort, Disney's Yacht Club Resort, Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's BoardWalk Inn, Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. Of the Deluxe Villas not included above, Disney's Riviera Resort, Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort, and Disney's Old Key West Resort also have balconies in most rooms. When you book your resort hotel, you may select the view category, so if a Theme Park View is very important to you, be sure to select that when you make your reservation.
My family's "Disney home" is Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, and while this resort hotel does not offer balconies, there is outdoor seating throughout the resort, and I often head outside first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee to watch the sunrise. It's a very peaceful way to start a Disney day, and if you end up choosing a hotel in the Moderate or Value category, please know you'll be able to do that at any of those resorts.
