Resort options near mk seem expensive. Would you recommend staying a few nights here for convenience then transferring to a cheaper resort to cover the other parks? Or is there another resort (value or moderate) with good transport to mk & downtown dis

    Hi Narelle,

The resorts located on the monorail near Magic Kingdom are incredibly convenient and luxurious, but they are among the most expensive at Walt Disney World. Many guests do as you suggest and split their stays among different resorts, both to save money and to have a chance to experience a different resort atmosphere.

    So that is an option.

If you don't want to move during your vacation, I recommend that you look at the Port Orleans resorts, either Port Orleans Riverside or Port Orleans French Quarter, as a less expensive alternative. These are my favorite moderate resorts for theme, amenities and location. It's a short bus ride from these resorts to each of the four parks and, as an added bonus, you can take a water taxi from either resort to Downtown Disney. In fact, it is much easier to get to and from Downtown Disney from Port Orleans than from the monorail resorts.

Please let me know if you have other questions after you take a look at what the moderate resorts have to offer. I'm happy to help any way I can!
