When going from a resort to the Magic Kingdom, does it take you to the spot to get on the monorail to go to the Magic Kingdom or do the resort buses take you right to the Magic Kingdom?

    Hello Jim,

Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. Before you know it you'll be strolling down Main Street U.S.A. and stopping to take an iconic photo with Cinderella Castle in the background! But first, let's make sure you know what to expect when using Walt Disney World transportation.

As a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel guest, you may already know that there is complimentary transportation from every hotel to all 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, and Disney Springs. Some hotels have different modes of transportation, depending on which park you are visiting, while at other hotels guests rely solely on bus transportation. It all depends on your location.

Having said that, unless you are staying at Disney's Wilderness Lodge or at one of the Resort Hotels on the monorail line, you'll be traveling by bus to Magic Kingdom. The bus will take you directly to the park; however, there will be a short walk to get to the entrance. If this is your first trip to Walt Disney World, you should know that there is a lot of walking, both in the parks and around your resort hotel.

Now, if you choose to take a taxi or ride share to Magic Kingdom, the driver will let you off at the Transportation and Ticket Center. From there you will need to either hop on the monorail or take a ferryboat to Magic Kingdom.

Hope this helps. Have a magical vacation!

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
