Do we have to be a resort guest at port orleans to go to sassagoula floatworks to get some beignets? And can we go to grand Floridian to see the gingerbread house witj out staying there?

    Hi, Sarah! Welcome to planDisney!

As they say in Louisiana, "laissez les bon temps rouler!" And there's no better way to let those good times roll than a visit to Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter! I love the charm of this beautiful place, and if you've ever been to New Orleans, the wrought iron railings and red brick facades will take you right back to the Crescent City.

And of course, when you're dreaming of the Big Easy, you've got to have beignets! You're welcome to stop by Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter for a delicious taste of New Orleans at Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory. And for those glorious, pillowy Mickey-shaped beignets, you'll want to head to Scat Cat's Club just off the main lobby.

Just remember that parking at Disney Resorts Collection hotels is reserved for Guests who are staying there or have dining reservations, so if you have a car with you, it's best to leave it at your Resort hotel and take Disney transportation instead. You can get to Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter by catching a bus from a theme park, or by hopping aboard a boat at Disney Springs and floating down the Sassagoula River to your destination.

When you need a little Christmas right this very minute, you can head over to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and take in the magical sight of the life-sized gingerbread house! It's about a 10-minute walk from the entrance of the Magic Kingdom Park to the Grand along the newly completed pathway, or you can simply step on the Resort monorail line and glide there on the highway in the sky.

Sarah, while you're oooh-ing and aaah-ing at the gorgeous gingerbread house, did you know you can actually eat it, too? At least, you can buy a gingerbread shingle just like the ones that adorn the house! The Cast Member elves working inside will be happy to provide you with a yummy shingle, along with lots of other holiday treats that are sure to get you in the spirit of the season.

I'm so excited for you to start your adventure at the Walt Disney World Resort, Sarah! Between beignets and gingerbread, you've got quite a tasty vacation ahead!

    Keep Disney Dreaming,

    Kathy K.

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
