    Howdy, Dee!

Welcome to planDisney and thank you for coming by with your question! I'm really excited for you to see the Disneyland Resort all decked out for the Holidays because the Holiday Season festivities will go on until January 7, 2024. It's one of the most beautiful times to visit the Parks. I'm also glad that you opted for the phenomenal cosmic power of Genie+ because it can get very busy at this time of year as well. I'd be happy to explain the use of MagicBand+ and Genie+ to you.

MagicBand+ is a completely optional, wearable device that helps you navigate the Parks and comes with several features which add both convenience and fun to your day. The Disney Parks Blog detailed how MagicBand+ is supported at the Disneyland Resort and they've since added Dazzling Interactions for the Disney100 Celebration. Ultimately, it doesn't matter if some in your party have MagicBand+ and some do not. You may all still experience everything that the Disneyland Resort has to offer!

Let's go over some Genie+ details. Make sure that everyone in your group has downloaded the Disneyland Mobile App to their smartphones. Lightning Lane reservations are made through the Mobile App whether you have a MagicBand+ or not. If everyone has Genie+ added to their tickets, each individual may make Lightning Lane reservations on their own. You do not all have to stay together the entire day. However, it would be most convenient to link all your tickets together so that others may make Lightning Lane reservations for the group or certain individuals in the group. It's super intuitive and you'll get it quickly once you begin making reservations in the App.

For the those of you who have a MagicBand+, you will simply use your Band to redeem Lightning Lanes and link Disney PhotoPass pictures. For the ones who do not have a Band, they will need to take out their smartphone, open the Disneyland Mobile App, and display the Lightning Lane or PhotoPass code that way. It's a little less convenient but they can still experience everything at the Parks! They will only miss out on some location based and nighttime spectacular haptic feedback.

Phew, that was a lot of information but I hope it was helpful for you as you plan your magical Holiday trip! The Festival of Holidays will still be going on during your visit, so grab yourself some yummy Holiday themed snacks while you're there! If you need more detail or elaboration on any part of this response, please feel free to write back again. You're always welcome at planDisney and we want you to have a fantastic trip! Until next time!

Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!

Meet the Panelist: Al, California

Ahoy there from the heart of Steinbeck Country in central California! I've been visiting the Disneyland Resort since childhood and fell in love with the sense of absolute immersion that the Imagineers have achieved. My favorite attraction is Pirates of the Caribbean because where else can you go from a California day to an evening boat ride in the bayou with "salty old pirates"? I'm a veterinarian and an all-around Disney geek and enthusiast. I'd love to help you plan your next Disneyland trip! Learn More About Al
