I just reserved a Mickey Celebration cake at the carnation cafe but only had a choice of dark chocolate or white. I would have preferred the milk chocolate cake that I see in so many postings about the cake online. Is this option no longer available?

Hi Bonnie! Sounds like you have a very special visit to the Happiest Place on Earth coming up and you'll be celebrating right alongside Disneyland Park for its 70th Anniversary Celebration! I'm so thrilled for you. And what a delightful way to add a little something special to your visit by requesting a Mickey Mouse Celebration Cake - great idea, Bonnie!

To answer your question, my best guess is that the chocolate celebration cake you're seeing in photos is likely very similar to the type of chocolate you'll be receiving at Carnation Café for your celebration cake. But that's just a guess! It's good to remember, Bonnie, that Disneyland is a magical place where we always expect things to be changing, so it's best to stay flexible. As Walt Disney, himself, said, "We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” This goes for chocolate cakes too!

Bonnie, you may want to check in at Carnation Café's host podium and inquire about the particular chocolate cake flavor for your Mickey Mouse Celebration Cake with the Cast Member there at the restaurant. They might be able to give you a bit more details on whether or not the flavor is more milk chocolate or dark chocolate. No guarantees, but it's worth an ask!

You're in for a real treat dining at the Carnation Café though, Bonnie! American comfort food at its finest, this sit down dining location was originally an ice cream parlor in 1955 when Disneyland first opened its doors and now it's a full-fledged restaurant filled with history and nostalgia. I love this darling spot, either sitting indoors or outdoors! If you're looking for some food recommendations before you enjoy your celebration cake, Bonnie, don't miss the Fried Pickles (that dipping sauce!) or Walt's Famous Chili - the same recipe Walt Disney himself enjoyed! It's delicious. But what takes Walt's Chili over the edge, for me, is combining it with an order of Mac & Cheese from the Kids' Menu. Shh, don't tell Walt.

Since you're celebrating, Bonnie, make sure to grab yourself a complimentary celebratory button available for Guests of any age. They can be found at City Hall on Main Street in Disneyland Park or the Chamber of Commerce on Buena Vista Street in California Adventure. You may also ask a Cast Member in any of the shops, too, and they'll usually be able to point you in the right direction to find yourself a celebratory button.

Well, Bonnie, I hope this has been helpful for you in your planning, and that you have the most magical visit to Disneyland. But, even more than that, I sincerely wish you the happiest of celebrations. If you have any other questions or would like some additional tips on celebrations in Disneyland, like how to experience the magic of Disneyland's 70th Celebration, don't hesitate to reach out to me anytime! I'm happy to help and always love a party!

    Warmest wishes,
    McCayla
