Do we have to reserve a ticket for each park if we purchased the park hopper option?

Hey there, Melissa! Thanks for visiting us here at planDisney with your question. Your trip to the most magical place on earth will be here soon, I bet you are getting so excited.

Melissa, I think you will really enjoy park hopping during your Walt Disney World vacation. It is actually my preferred park touring method and my favorite way to spend a day at Disney. Park hopping just recently returned to us, at the start of this year, and does look a little bit different than it did before.

Here's how it is currently working:
    • Guests wishing to park hop must have valid theme park admission with the park hopper option
    • Guests wishing to park hop must make park pass reservations for an initial park each day
    • Guests wishing to park hop must scan in and enter the theme park with the park pass reservation before continuing on to other theme parks later in the day
    • Once the initial park pass reservation is made, there is no need to make additional park pass reservations throughout the day to park hop
    • Park hopping hours are now from 2:00 p.m. and last until each park closes in the evening
So, to clarify, you will need to make an initial park pass reservation for each day you'll be visiting the Walt Disney World Theme Parks. After that, when you are park hopping, you won't need to make any additional reservations throughout the day.

To make park hopping a little bit easier at this time, complimentary park-to-park bus transportation is currently being provided. Transportation starts around 2:00 p.m. each day. If you want to take the bus, just head out of the first Walt Disney World Theme Park that you are at and head to the bus stop area. You should see a bus stop dedicated for where you'd like to go next. There should be a Cast Member working this area and he or she will want to verify that you do, indeed, have the park hopper option added onto your ticket before being able to board the bus. This is just a quick scan of a MagicBand or ticket card and then you'll be whisked off to your next destination.

Melissa, I hope you enjoy park hopping as much as I do. If you have any other questions before your trip, please feel free to come back and ask me. I'm happy to help. Have fun!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
