Dear Miguel, welcome to planDisney! Oh boy, I am so excited to read your question. A wedding proposal at Disneyland Resort sounds like the perfect way to ask your true love to share her happily ever after with you! Given we have just a couple of days before your special moment, here are a few ideas for a magical proposal!
• Photos: Proposing in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle sounds like the perfect backdrop! There is typically a
Disney PhotoPass Photographer at the castle most of the day. To be sure, you can check the
Disneyland mobile app once you arrive. If you search for “Disney’s PhotoPass Service” you’ll be taken to a page with a “Find on Map” link, which will display the current locations of the photographers. Once you're there and it's your turn for the photo, the Disney PhotoPass Photographer will ask you to set down your belongings and get positioned; this is a good opportunity to discreetly inform your photographer that you’re about to propose! The photographers are extremely kind and experienced and will capture beautiful photos of your memorable moment. After your photo session, they will scan the PhotoPass Code in your Disneyland mobile app.
• Accessing your photos: If you have added
Disney Genie+ service for the day, guess what – you get unlimited digital downloads from PhotoPass that day too! If you have not added Disney Genie+, no worries, you can still purchase all your photos from that day for $19.99 (price subject to change.) Personally, I recommend adding Disney Genie+ which is currently $20 per ticket for the day – this way you’ll have access to PhotoPass AND save time waiting in queues for attractions.
• Celebrating your engagement: If you’re looking for a romantic dinner, I recommend
Napa Rose and
Carthay Circle Restaurant, both with an elegant ambiance and delicious cuisine. For a classy but casual vibe,
Lamplight Lounge is my favorite, with a gorgeous view of Pixar Pier. If you can’t grab a reservation in the app in advance, visit the host stand at any of the restaurants to join the walk-up list. Be sure to let them know you’re celebrating your engagement and they will be happy to help you celebrate your special evening!
• Mementos: You can pick up complimentary “Just Engaged” buttons at a Disney gift shop or at City Hall. Another idea - I recently saw a couple at the parks with embroidered mouse ears – his said “I asked” and hers said “I said yes!” which I thought was just adorable! If you pick up any of these keepsakes, you could wear them and take more Disney PhotoPass shots during the day – remember you’ll have unlimited downloads within the fixed price. Also, ask a photographer about doing a Magic Shot – they will add a surprise special effect to your photo!
Disney’s Fairytale Weddings & Honeymoons has a section on their site for Engagements, with a Magical Moments Guide for other ideas.
Miguel, I am honored you stopped by planDisney to let us help you plan this special day. I wish you and your true love a lifetime of happiness, great health, and togetherness!
