How do I reserve fast passes for a reserved day at Epcot?

    Hello, Terry! Welcome to planDisney!

It seems this may be your first visit to the Walt Disney World, or it’s been a while between visits as the Disney FastPass system was discontinued in late 2021. But that’s A-OK. I will get you up to speed so you can take advantage of the new system during your upcoming visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth! I was in your shoes after not visiting for a while, so I had to do plenty of research to get acclimated with the new process, and I am happy to share my knowledge with Guests like you!

The FastPass system that was once in place has now been replaced with Disney Genie and Disney Genie+, accessed through the My Disney Experience app. I would start by ensuring you have downloaded the app on your mobile device and created a Disney account. If you need assistance with how to do this, submit another question to me, and I will guide you through that process. Disney Genie service is free and gives you access to "My Day," which helps you plan your day based on how you answer a few simple questions.

Disney Genie+ Service needs to be purchased each day of your visit (pricing fluctuates by day and park) and allows Guests to use Lightning Lane entrances at select attractions and experiences. Lightning Lanes are the new FastPasses. Guests that purchase Genie+ can make one Lightning Lane selection at a time, and the first selection can be made at 7:00 AM. Once you redeem a Lightning Lane selection, you can book another, or if two hours have passed since your last selection, you can book another. These selections are for specific attractions or experiences at one particular time window. Genie+ can sell out, so I suggest waking up early on the day you plan on visiting EPCOT to purchase Genie+ and be ready to make your first Lightning Lane entrance selection by that 7:00 AM start time.

Individual Lightning Lanes are for select attractions and do not require the Guest to pay for Genie+, and they are considered Á La Carte. To purchase an Individual Lightning Lane Entry, you will open your My Disney Experience App, click the menu icon (three horizontal lines in the bottom right corner), then “LL Rides, Shows & Lightning Lane Entry,” followed by “Tip Board,” and then select an individual Lightning Lane experience and follow the prompts to purchase.

If you want to get into the weeds, there are also Virtual Queues. Virtual Queues are accessible through your My Disney Experience App and are used for select attractions, typically when the rides are first introduced in the parks, so Guests can enjoy the rest of the park while they “wait.” Only TRON Lightcycle / Run in the Magic Kingdom and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT are utilizing Virtual Queues, so there is no standby line/queue. Joining a Virtual Queue is free, can be requested at 7:00 AM and/or 1:00 PM (with certain restrictions), is limited in availability, and does not guarantee the ability to experience the ride.

I know this answer may cause you to have more questions, Terry, so when you are ready for me to dive deeper, submit another question. I would be happy to go into greater detail on each of these for you so that you feel well-prepared for your upcoming visit! You can also check out these How-To videos!
