Hey there, Cynthia!
We frequently travel with my in-laws, who have some mobility issues but do not own their own ECV or scooter, so I make sure to rent one for them each trip.
You have two main options:
Your first option is to
rent an ECV when you arrive in the theme parks. This rental option may be best for you if you are not staying in the
Disney Resorts Collection, and do not have handicap-accessible transportation back and forth to the parks. These ECV's may not leave the theme parks, so you must drop it off before heading out each day, and pick a new one up the next morning when you arrive. Disney does provide courtesy wheelchairs for the parking lot to get you back and forth from the rental location to your car.
What I prefer to do is to rent through a third-party company. These companies will drop off your ECV at your hotel, and you can then bring it back and forth to the parks with you. Walking to the resort after a long day can be a bit tiring, and I do not like to use valuable park time to stop by the ECV rental location. All
Walt Disney World Resort transportation is ECV friendly, so we can easily bring it on the bus, monorail, or
Disney Skyliner!
Currently, ScooterBug is the Disney Featured Provider and the only company able to drop off your rental at Bell Services at your Disney Resorts Collection hotel.
Another tip is that for the vast majority of lines, you will be able to
stay in your ECV! This really helped my in-laws not be tired throughout the day.
I hope that this gave you a bit of insight, Cynthia! Please come back here if we can help answer any other questions for you.
See you real soon!
