Hiya, Angela!
Welcome Home and welcome to planDisney! How exciting that you are thinking of gifting the magic of your
Disney Vacation Club Membership with a stay at a wonderful
DVC Resort. Angela, my parents did this for my husband and me for our honeymoon, and it inspired us to become Members! Sharing your Membership is a wonderful way to spread a little sparkle with your family.
Yes, you most certainly can use your
DVC Vacation Points to reserve a DVC room for your sister and her family. To do this,
log into your Disney Vacation Club account on the DVC website. The login is under the "My DVC" tab on the top right of the menu bar. Then, you can search for the Resort availability. As a reminder, you can book your Home Resort beginning 11 months from the check-in date and all other DVC Resorts beginning seven months from your check-in date. Once you select the Resort and room, follow the steps until you get to the Guest Name(s) section. Here is where you will enter your sister's information and the names of all of the Guests in her party.
Once your registration is complete, the reservation is hers. Your Vacation Points will cover the cost of her room, and once she checks in, she will be asked to put a credit card on the room for incidentals. Now, if there are any changes to the reservation or you need to contact Member Services, you - the Member - would need to do that. Otherwise, once the room is booked, you can share the reservation number with her, and she can link it to her My Disney Experience account.
I hope this helps you, Angela! If you have any further Disney Vacation Club questions, stop back and see me. I'll be so happy to help you!
See ya real soon!
