We have reservations at WL, but are considering the CR. It would be an upgrade as far as price. We are trying to determine if it is worth it! We are traveling with our 2 daughters, a 3 yr old and 5 months. What do you think? We have ADR all over WDW!

    Kayla:

    Thanks for the question!

Although I've eaten in the Contemporary many times, I have to admit I've never stayed there.  The price tag was just too high considering the fact it's been under construction either inside or out for several years and you could get better theming at the Polynesian for about the same price....

If your priority is ease of access to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot via the monorail OR you think you'll be headed to bed early most nights with the girls and will get to enjoy MK's fireworks, it may be a good choice---but only IF you're splurging for the towers and not in its garden wings (the wing views can either be GREAT with lagoon views like what Disney Mom Margaret experienced recently or not-so-stellar with grand views of a parking lot...)

Wilderness Lodge offers the boat launch to Magic Kingdom which is a ride in itself, but understandably, bus rides to the other parks might not be as glamorous as the monorail.  However, the theme of the building appeals much more to children (and adults, too) as does the pool when you compare it to the Contemporary.  Both have door entrances to rooms from the lobby atrium, so if naps and early bed times are a priority, make sure and request more "quiet" rooms on your reservation, regardless of where you end up.

Bottom line: Pool, theme, and price = Wilderness Lodge.  Fireworks and transportation = Contemporary.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
