Hi Tracy,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am so happy to hear that you are planning to dine at
The Wave ...of American Flavors at Disney's Contemporary Resort. We have dined there in the past and it was lovely!
In my experience, the observation deck atop Disney's Contemporary Resort is for use only by guests of California Grill. Guests must check-in on the second floor of the resort hotel to get access to the restaurant, lounge and observation deck. It is one of my family's favorite places to watch the
Happily Ever After fireworks show. There is, however, another deck that you could potentially use at Disney's Contemporary Resort - on the same level as Chef Mickey's. It is just past the gift shop area. Since the Happily Ever After show has such gorgeous projections onto Cinderella Castle and beautiful narration with music, I also always suggest that guests view the show at least once near the front of Cinderella Castle.
Finally, since Disney's Contemporary Resort is within walking distance of Magic Kingdom, you could walk over to view the fireworks after your dinner depending on the time of your dinner reservation. We always find a spot for fireworks viewing at least one hour before the show. Remember also that the crowds can get intense and cast members rope off certain pathways in Magic Kingdom as it gets closer to the time of the show.
Tracy, if you have not done so already, consider the
Highway in the Sky Dine Around. The experience ends with fireworks viewing!
Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
Donyell
