Hello Julie! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
As the father of 2 very picky eaters, I often find balancing our
Disney Dining Plan credits akin to gambling. If I order a meal for my son or say that my daughter will be partaking in a buffet, I'm all-in whether they eat their fill or only 3 bites before calling the delicious offerings "yucky".
At traditional Table Service Restaurants, you are charged Disney Dining Plan credits for meals ordered, not for a Guest taking up a seat. If you do not order a meal for one of your children, then you will not be charged Disney Dining Plan credits. Also, you can choose before the bill arrives whether or not to redeem Disney Dining Plan credits for a particular meal or pay out of pocket.
Be advised that Guests over 3 are not allowed to eat off of the plate of an Adult at a buffet. They will require their own plate and will be charged if they eat.
Keep open communication with you Server and they will be sure to arrange your bill based on your needs for that meal.
For
Character Dining, Signature Dining that includes set menus and Dinner Shows, Guests are charged for the experience regardless of how much (or little) is eaten. You will be charged the full cost or expected to redeem Disney Dining Plan credits for those meals. When you book your Advanced Dining Reservations, be sure to read through the terms and conditions for your meals. Additionally, they can be found in your confirmation e-mail once
Advanced Dining Reservations are confirmed.
Bon Appétit!
