Angela from NC Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Are reservations still required? Planning to buy Disney hotel+tix from 3rd party vendor for Christmas. Thanks.

Welcome back to planDisney, Angela. Let's get your question answered!

If you are purchasing date-based tickets, meaning they are valid for a very specific date range, you are not required to make Theme Park Reservations at this time. A sign that you're purchasing date-based tickets is that you have to select dates from a calendar when making your purchase. Just check with the third party from which you are acquiring tickets that they are indeed date-based. Some examples of tickets that currently still require reservations are Annual Passholders, those with Student group tickets, Sports & Convention tickets, Florida Resident Discover Disney Tickets, and Disney Military Salute Tickets.

Not only do most Guests not need to make Theme Park Reservations at this time, but if your ticket has the Park Hopper Option, there is currently no set time as to when you can hop over to another park. This means that if you're at Magic Kingdom Park for the morning and want to hop on over to another park like Disney's Hollywood Studios, you can do so whenever you're ready. Just note that if you are visiting during the week of Christmas, this is a very popular time and parks can still close due to capacity. I usually recommend on rare days like these, especially on Christmas Day and New Year's Eve, that you only leave a park if you are okay with the possibility of not being able to come back. Of course, friendly Cast Members will have the most up-to-date information so be sure to check with them if you're on your way out of a park.

Angela, the holidays are incredibly special at the resort. And for me, it's all about the limited-time treats. While we don't yet know what offerings will be available this year, be sure to check out last year's Foodie Guide to get a taste of what could possibly be offered this year! And stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for any announcements related to this year's holiday season. After all, Halfway to the Holidays is coming up pretty quickly!
