We have reservations at Pop February 10-16 (Mardi Gras). Our friend is trying to book her trip for that week too but the value resorts are full. We've been for Mardi Gras 4 times and the crowds weren't bad. Why is everything is booked already?

Hiya Jodie! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

How fun to enjoy Mardi Gras at Walt Disney World Resort! Not to get too religious, but did you know that Mardi Gras means “Fat Tuesday” in French? This was the time that Roman Catholics would (and still do) indulge in all of the sugary, buttery goodness before the Lenten time of fasting? I don’t think there is a better place to enjoy some sugary goodness than Walt Disney World Resort (Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar, anyone?) Did you know that Disney’s Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter actually evokes the Antebellum era and has colorful Mardi Gras characters throughout its picturesque grounds?

February 22-25th, 2018 happens to be Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend, and many athletes tend to travel before or after the race to enjoy all that the Disney Theme Parks have to offer, so that MAY be a reason why you are seeing some lower than usual availability. My suggestion would be to keep on checking, or to enlist the help of a Disney Travel Agent who can keep day-to-day tabs on availability for you! In the meantime, I strongly suggest booking alternate accommodations (perhaps even Disney’s Port Orleans Resort- French Quarter), as a backup plan and then if there are any Disney Value Resort availability, you can always switch it up!

I hope this helps you with your planning and that you have a memorable Mardi Gras! Make sure to come and see us again soon,
