Have reservations at POP 9/19-9/23 will be arriving on 9/18. Looking for something to do that evening. Is Downtown Disney something that a 4 and 6 year old would enjoy? I am open to any other suggestions.

    Hi Angela,

Do your 4 and 6 year old children like candy? toys? Legos? dinosaurs?  If you answered yes to any of these, I think it's safe to say Downtown Disney is a great way to spend an evening.

Shopping in Downtown Disney is an interactive experience!  Once Upon a Toy is a huge toy store with small areas where children can play.  The Lego store is the same - they have a huge building center where kids can build and even race their Lego car creations.

Stop by Goofy's Candy Co. to create your own dipped chocolate treat or to indulge in one of the many pre-made desserts!  I think a person can gain 5 pounds just looking in the display cases.

I guess I should have recommended dinner before dessert, but what's the fun in that.  There is a Rainforest Cafe in the area.  If you've never been to one of these popular restaurants, you're in for a treat.  You dine in a simulated rainforest, complete with animatronic elephants, monkeys, birds, and other animals.  T-Rex is another restaurant run by the same company.  Like the name suggests, the restaurant is dinosaur themed.

You can often catch a concert or enjoy a street performer in the area during the evening.

If it's a really warm evening, your kids might enjoy splashing around in the interactive fountain.

These are just a few of the diversions you'll find in Downtown Disney.  It's one of my favorite areas!

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
