    we have our reservations for our party of 12 the week of Thanksgiving with dining plan my question is I read on a party of 6 or more an 18% grat. is added if only 5 of us eat a meal is there an automatic grat?

    Hi Kathleen! For parties of 6 or more, an 18% gratuity is automatically added to your bill. The gratuity is calculated on the total cost of your food and beverages, then the Disney Dining Plan Meals are deducted and the remaining amount due is inclusive of the gratuity. We informed the Cast Member as to which people were in our family and presented our Key to the World Card.  At the conclusion of our meal, the 18% gratuity was appropriately added to our bill.

    We are a family of 5 and on the occasions when we dined alone, the 18% gratuity was not added. However, we had excellent service and tipped well. Please keep in mind that if you receive exceptional service, you can tip more than the automatic 18% gratuity. Have a Magical Vacation!
