Hi Moms! We have these reservations: 1900 park fare for dinner, chef Mickeys for breakfst and H&V for lunch. Have a 4 yr old & 21 mo old. Any advice on making the most of the character interactions? What should we say to characters other than hello

    Hi Laurie:

Very few experiences beat a character meal at Disney World.  Three in one trip will be a treat for your children.  Character meals are the best ways to interact with characters without having to wait in long lines, since the characters will come to you.

To make the most of your character meal, I suggest having your pen and autograph book ready so you don't have to waste precious character time looking for those items.  You can purchase these items in just about any Disney gift shop or purchase them online before you go.  I would also have a camera or video camera ready.

Characters usually will spend a few minutes at your table before moving to the next one.  I've never felt rushed with a character, but after a time, the characters will eventually find away to move along if the restaurant is crowded.  I would prepare your children in advance that characters will visit their table.  Your child can let the characters know about their day, what rides they are excited for, ask any question they want, or just ask for an autograph and picture.  Your children can say just about anything they want to the characters, who will acknowledge your child with some fun hand-gestures.

My youngest went through a phase when he was scared of characters and would cry when they visited the table.  The characters were always good about recognizing his fear and giving him distance.

    Enjoy your vacation.
