Hi Amanda! Welcome to planDisney! You have picked one of the merriest times of the year to visit Walt Disney World, and I am so excited for you!
A late December into early January
Walt Disney World visit is filled with Disney
holiday magic everywhere you look! There is something special about experiencing the theme parks and Disney Resort Hotels during this season. One of my very favorite traditions is exploring the different Hotels to take in all the beautiful decorations. The gingerbread displays at several Resort Hotels are incredible, and each resort has its own stunning Christmas tree and unique holiday touches. We love planning a meal at a few different Disney Resort hotels so we can enjoy spending time wandering through the beautifully decorated lobbies.
When it comes to booking your stay, Walt Disney World vacation packages typically open about 12 to 18 months in advance. Right now, availability is showing through October 2027, so I would expect December 2027 and January 2028 dates to open up in the coming months. Keep your eye on the Walt Disney World website as those dates get closer, and you will see the availability open!
As for special offers, Disney often releases late year promotions in late spring or early summer of the same year. It is good to know that discounts are less common right around Christmas and New Year’s since it is such a popular travel time, but it never hurts to watch for announcements just in case a little extra holiday pixie dust appears.
You can also expect higher crowd levels during the holidays, but for me, it does not take away from the magic. There is an energy and excitement in the parks that feels joyful and celebratory. I once spent New Year’s Eve at Disneyland Resort, and the
midnight fireworks were unforgettable. If your trip lines up with New Year’s celebrations at Walt Disney World, you are in for something really magical.
I love that you chose
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort! The theming is so fun and colorful. Everywhere you look, it feels like you have stepped into your favorite animated story, and it adds a playful and happy energy to your stay.
One of the things I love the most about Art of Animation is that it sits right on the
Disney Skyliner. It makes getting to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios easy, and it also makes it simple to enjoy some Disney Resort hopping like I mentioned earlier. It feels like your first ride of the day when you step into your gondola and head off toward the parks. Floating above Walt Disney World with those views around you is a perfect way to start your day! My planDisney pals recently did a
full resort tour, and it shows you the fun you have in store!
Amanda, keep checking in on availability as your dates approach, and enjoy every moment of the planning process. If more questions come up along the way, please come back and visit us again anytime.
Merry planning and the happiest of holiday wishes to you!
