Are reservations necessary at Trail's End if staying at FW? What are the must-dine options at FW? Thank you.

Hi Diane! Trails End restaurant at the Fort Wilderness resort is one of those hidden secrets at Walt Disney World. It is open for breakfast buffet, lunch with menu choices, and then again for dinner buffet. I always take time to make a reservation when I think we will be dining there but I have also had good luck at walking up and getting a table right away. It is generally not crowded at all three meals but that can change during holiday periods and busier park weeks. My rule of thumb is to make a reservation and not be disappointed or have to wait for a table since you will want to usually be moving to the parks or some other activity.

Trails End is the only restaurant in this resort. It is because so many guests cook at their cabin or at their camp site. My favorite meal at Trails End is breakfast as I love a good old fashioned southern spread which is what they offer. You can have fruit to Mickey waffles but my choice is always the biscuits and gravy. Don't miss the warm sticky buns in the center island too!

Lunch is off a menu and my choice at this time is the catfish. It is consistently good and not something you can find at many other Disney dining spots.

Dinner is heavy on the barbecue and I love the salad spread. Corn bread and other great veggies add to this and end the meal with some good soft serve ice cream cones or sundaes!

The take out pizza is pretty good as well. It is just a bit difficult to get it back to the campsites or cabins warm. But you can quickly zap it in the microwave and enjoy a no fuss meal with the family while watching Disney movies!
