we have reservations for may 9-12,2011..was planning on attending magic kingdom monday but was informed not a good day to go. is this true? dining tips for 3 and 6 yr old?

If I were planning my family's vacation for May 9-12, I would visit the Magic Kingdom on Wednesday, May 11th if I could pick only one day. If you need more days at the Magic Kingdom, I would also choose Tuesday, May 10th.

I would avoid Monday May 9th as the park has evening extra magic hours and this tends to increase crowds. If it's too late to change your schedule, the morning and early afternoon will not be horrible. Plan to be at the entrance prior to the park opening time and then head directly to Fantasyland!

For dining with young children, try to stick to their regular meal times. For staying ahead of crowds, it's better to dine early than late. For example, an 11 a.m. lunch will be less crowded than a meal at 1:00 p.m.

Choose places with familiar foods. It won't be difficult to find the standard kid fare such as chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese and cheese pizza. Plan ahead by looking at restaurant menus before your vacation so you have a list of places that your children will enjoy. Some menus can be found at www.disneyworld.com in the dining section for individual restaurants. Another site with menus is www.AllEars.net.

Pack snacks that you know your children like and will tide them over in between meals. I like to carry peanut butter crackers for times that we are stuck in line when our tummies are rumbly.

Book at least one character meal. Buffets work very well for picky eaters!
