Hi Shannon,
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us another question.
The answer depends on who the “Lead Guest” is, that is, who made the reservation. If it’s under your name, then it should be relatively simple to switch your husband’s name out for your oldest son. Depending on the type of reservation you have, you may even be able to update or modify your hotel or package reservation online. Simply sign in to your My Disney Experience account and go to
My Plans. There, you should see a link for your reservation, and you'll be able to click on “Modify Reservation" if you can make changes online. I would make this change sooner, rather than later, in order to avoid any potential change fees that might apply.
From what I understand, there if you’re just switching Guest names, then there shouldn’t be an additional charge with this switch. However, if you plan to add your son to the room (because your husband ultimately decides to come along), then you will incur extra charges for the new member of your party.
If you can’t modify the reservation online, or if your husband is the Lead Guest for your reservation, I strongly recommend
contacting Walt Disney World Resort in order to “untangle” your vacation plans. They’ll also be able to give you more information regarding any change fees that may apply to your type of reservation.
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
