We have reservations for the Hoop Dee Do 7:15 show on Dec 16th. Would really like to see MK castle lights before taking boat to HDD. Will this be possible time-wise? I can't seem to find what time castle lighting is and how long boat will take from MK.

Hi Kris!  The castle lights will be on at dusk and since you are talking about a day in December you should easily have the full affect of the beautiful lights by 6:00pm.  I would recommend you be at the boat station for Fort Wilderness by 6:30. This spot is located directly out from the front of the entry gates to the Magic Kingdom.  You might have to wait for a boat but this should still give you time to get there for your 7:15 reservation.  The ride itself only takes approximately 12-15 minutes.  Once you arrive it is an easy five minute walk to the Pioneer Hall.

Have fun....sounds like a great magical evening for your family on the 16th of December!
