Hello! I have reservations for Hollywood Studios on July 5th. The park opens at 9am. So does that mean the start of trying to get onto Rise of the Resistance will start at 9am? or will we still have to try for 7am?

    Hi Pamela!

“In a galaxy far, far away...” or in this case, Walt Disney World lies Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Jedis and padawans will rejoice at how spot on this immersive land truly is! It’s like stepping right into the Star Wars universe!

Believe me, you’ll want to start your efforts at grabbing a Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance boarding group as early as possible! It is still such a popular attraction, and the virtual queue will fill up lightning fast! You’ll want to log on to your My Disney Experience mobile app and select the "Join Virtual Queue" at 7:00 A.M. EST. It will confirm you want to join the virtual queue for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and ask who is part of your party. The main goal is to get that boarding group assigned! Later in the day, you’ll be notified to come to the attraction for boarding. But don’t just take my word for it: my fellow panelist Missy has an interSTELLAR answer outlining all the steps to the boarding group process.

Since you will want to be ready to roll at 7:00 A.M. when the virtual queue opens, make sure you have all your ducks in a row in advance. I suggest that you join the virtual queue a couple of minutes in advance of 7:00 A.M. and then swipe down to refresh the page until it gives you the ability to jump in. I would not worry so much about trying to add everyone in your party because they will all be automatically selected; the objective is to click through this process until you get a boarding group assigned as quickly as possible. Once successful, later in the day, you will get a notification on the app that it’s time to return to the attraction for boarding.

There’s always a “New Hope” if you don’t succeed the first try. The virtual queue will reopen daily at 1:00 P.M. for Guests inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios who weren't able to join a boarding group earlier in the day. It’s a second chance at a first-rate attraction!

BLAST back to planDisney if you need any other information or if we can help you with a Jedi mind trick or two. Pamela, wishing you the best vacation in the entire galaxy!

May the Force be with you!
