We have reservations at the Garden grill in Epcot at 8pm in Sept. Will there still be the characters since it's at 8pm? Also, will we have enough time to walk outside and see the laser night show?--

The Garden Grill is my favorite character meal restaurant, Kathleen.  You're in for a treat!  Mickey and his friends make it a point to greet all of the guests, so you don't need to worry about them disappearing before your reservation time.  Unfortunately, though, an 8 pm dinner reservation probably won't really leave you enough time to both eat and enjoy IllumiNations.  You should expect for your meal to last about an hour, and when you account for any wait time to be seated, you've already cut into the start time for IllumiNations.  You also need to allow about five or ten minutes to walk from the restaurant to the World Showcase Lagoon.  If seeing IllumiNations is important to you, I'd suggest trying for an earlier dining time or planning to view it on a different night.  I hope that helps.
