Hi Melissa,
Welcome to planDisney! I’m glad you’re here with this thoughtful question about your future Walt Disney World vacation. Disney’s Port Orleans resorts have been the backdrop for some of my most favorite Disney vacation memories, so I love the fact that you are planning to stay at one of them. My family and I adore these resorts so much.
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside boasts stately mansions in Magnolia Bend and quaint backwoods cottages in Alligator Bayou, all residing in a picturesque setting that evokes the romance of rural Louisiana. Then you have
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter where you feel like you’ve arrived in New Orleans during Mardi Gras as soon as you step onto the resort. This resort brings you directly to the heart of New Orleans’ historic French Quarter. Both resorts have the most beautiful theming that instantly transports you from the moment you arrive. No matter which location you’re planning to visit, you will love your stay. Remember that since they are considered sister resorts, you can use the amenities at both locations. To get from resort to resort, you can either walk, take the
Sassagoula River Cruise (water taxi), or use the internal resort shuttle bus.
Now, let’s zoom in on your check-out day. One of the many perks offered as part of staying at a
Disney Resorts Collection hotel is the use of the amenities. As a Disney resort hotel guest, you can continue using the resort amenities (including resort transportation) on your check-out day. Go ahead and leave your luggage with
Bell Services and hop aboard the Sassagoula River Cruise to
Disney Springs. Cast members will happily hang onto your belongings until you return to depart for the airport. I do this often when I stay at one of these resorts. I usually head straight for World of Disney for any last souvenirs or gifts to bring home, then for
Gideon’s Bakehouse for the Original Peanut Butter Cold Brew (Melissa, I don’t even like coffee, but this is my favorite thing!) and a few take-home cookies for the family.
Melissa, I hope this information is helpful. If you need any additional advice or help as you plan your next Disney World visit, please be sure to stop by and visit us here at planDisney again. Until then, TTFN… ta-ta for now!
