I have reservations for Disney in November. Unfortunately, the dates that I am going does not offer free dining. My 12 year old son has a disability, and does not eat most food on the adult menu. Should I purchase the dining plan?

    Hi Donna,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us a question!

I’m not the biggest fan of the Disney Dining Plan, largely because I don’t have much of a sweet tooth and would rather skip desserts/snacks in favour of an appetizer or a glass of wine! I’ll be honest, unless you intend to do several buffet/family style meals where you would have to pay for an "adult" meal for your son, I’d probably advise against purchasing the Disney Dining Plan for your upcoming visit to Walt Disney World Resort.

That being said, if you’re planning to do 2-3 character meals, I would compare the cost of one of those meals vs. the daily charge associated with the Disney Dining Plan you’re thinking of purchasing. I recommend looking at the “calculators” that are available on sites like mousesavers.com if you want to do some number crunching to really make sure you’re getting the best deal for your family. After all, a penny saved is a penny more that you can spend on another Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar! :)

Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions.
