Hi Melinda,
To answer your question, it will all depend on
Magic Kingdom Park's operating hours. Generally speaking, the
Resort Monorail runs from 45 minutes before the theme park's opening time until one hour after it closes. If the theme park closes at 10:00 p.m. that night, and your restaurant reservation is for 8:40 p.m., then you will still be able to catch the Resort Monorail back to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
The
Walt Disney World® Water Transportation is another option. When exiting Magic Kingdom Park, do look to see if there's a boat at the nearby dock or approaching it. The water launch service back to the Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa might even be a few of minutes faster than the Resort Monorail. Since the water taxi takes longer to dock, load and unload, my family typically opts for the monorail. However, it all depends on the size of the crowds on the monorail platform when Magic Kingdom Park closes.
Even if you miss the last running monorail and/or boat launch back to the resort, there are other transportation options available. For example, the operating hours of the all-new
"Minnie Vans" point-to-point service are from 6:30am to 12:30am. And although these aren't currently accessible to Guests staying at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, it's very likely that they might be in the very near future. If all else fails, Taxi cabs are also available if you need to get around outside of the complimentary transportation hours.
