We have reservations for dinner at Cinderella’s Royal table. We are keeping it a surprise from my daughter. Her favorite character is Moana. Will she be out of place by dressing up as her verses the traditional princesses? Thank you!

    Hi Amanda,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for your question.  A surprise visit to Cinderella’s Royal Table will be absolutely magical for your princess, I am positive she will have the time of her life!

One of the many things I love about Walt Disney World Resort is that pretty much anything goes.  If your daughter’s favourite princess is Moana, then she should dress up as Moana.  My daughter has been to Cinderella's Royal Table dressed as Moana and had some fantastic conversations with the other princesses, especially Ariel, where they bonded over their common love for the water.  Ever since my daughter was young she has never wanted to dress up as one of the princesses or characters that she was planning on meeting, she always felt she needed to be different.  We have always had fantastic visits at Cinderella’s Royal Table, even when she has been dressed up as A “Space Rangerette” (her version of Buzz Lightyear) and even as The Evil Queen.  The princesses will always make anyone feel welcome, regardless of what they are wearing.

With that being said, I would even recommend for her to bring some “accessories” such as Moana’s necklace or Hei Hei, if she has them.  These items make the conversations even more personal and act as a conversation starter if your princess is shy.  Last year my daughter bedazzled a toy crab and brought him as Tamatoa, which the princesses loved.  It’s the little moments that makes our memories magical, and I know my daughter and I will never forget them.

For me, the bottom line is what will make your princess happy?  If wearing a Moana costume is what she wants, then let her wear the costume with pride.  It’s calling her!
