We have 7 am reservations at Chef Mickey's and will have our own car. We want to go right to the Magic Kingdom after but Contemporary only allows 3 hr parking. If we went to MK parking lot will monorail be running to bring us to breakfast that early?

Hi Vanessa! This is a highly debated topic about parking and Chef Mickey or the California Grill restaurants at the Contemporary Resort. The rules do state that you are not allowed to leave your car there and head to a park for the day unless you are a registered Contemporary Resort guest or Bay Lake Tower guest. Have people bent the rules and gotten away with this? Yes, but you will do it at the risk of having your car towed and that would not be a magical ending to your day.

The Magic Kingdom parking lot opens approximately two hours before the park opens. Because you have a 7am dining reservation this would not give you enough time to park and get to the Contemporary resort for your breakfast. The best way to make sure you are there and don't lose this hard to get reservation would be to park at the Contemporary and then move your car to the Magic Kingdom parking lot when you are finished.  I suggest that the rest of the family walk to the park using the safe pathway and have a meeting point where you can be inside the park. This will allow them to even experience one attraction perhaps while they are waiting and time is not wasted.

If you are staying at a Disney resort the best way to do this early reservation is to take a resort bus that will be out early just for these early times.  Make sure you let your resort know you have to be at the Contemporary Resort by 7am and they will direct you to where you will need to be to catch a character dining bus.  Many times you will be sharing with others who have the same issue. Be sure and communicate to your driver exactly where you need to be and by what time. Then the entire family can walk to the park and catch a resort bus back at the end of the day.

I realize this might not be the easiest thing to do during your vacation but Chef Mickey is one of our family favorites on each visit!
