We have reservations at Chef Mickey’s for breakfast at 7:35 on our MK Park day. How long should we expect breakfast to last as well as travel time (via monorail) to MK and physically getting into the park. We have a FP ride starting at 9:05. Thanks!

    Hi Allison,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

When we have dined at Chef Mickey's in the past, we have been able to eat and interact with all of the characters in about an hour. Just be sure to settle the bill before you finish dining because this can take a few minutes. Chef Mickey's is quite close to the monorail, so you could easily get on the resort monorail to get to Magic Kingdom. Keep in mind, however, that the resort monorail makes several stops on the way to Magic Kingdom from Disney's Contemporary Resort Hotel. It could take 15-20 minutes to travel to Magic Kingdom not counting any time you have to wait for the monorail to arrive. When we head to Magic Kingdom from Disney's Contemporary Resort Hotel, we often walk because the walk, for us, is no more than 10 minutes. Returning from Magic Kingdom, we take the resort monorail because Disney's Contemporary Resort Hotel is the first stop.

If you leave Disney's Contemporary Resort Hotel by 8:45 a.m., you should have plenty of time to get to that first Fast Pass+ selection. If you get a little delayed, I think you might still make it even if you left at 9:00 a.m. (assuming your Fast Pass+ is from 9:05 a.m. - 10:05 a.m.). Just remember that, if you have bags, you will have to go through bag check (to get on the monorail or along the walking path to Magic Kingdom). Also know that the resort monorail does suspend operation at times, so be prepared to walk if that happens.

Allison, we love this character dining experience! On our visit this past summer, Minnie Mouse was adorable. Some of my favorite photos are the ones taken by the Disney PhotoPass photographer just before the dining experience. Be sure to take lots of pictures when the characters stop by your table and do not forget those autograph books!

Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
