I have reservations for Boma at 5:00 on Sept. 5 (my 50th birthday). I plan to be at Magic Kingdom that day and am wondering what is the best way to get to the restaurant and what time I should plan to leave MK to get there on time. Thanks for your help.

Hi Ruth!  Happy Birthday!  What a wonderful way to celebrate this amazing milestone in your life!  I'm not too far behind you, and I think I may take a cue from you and celebrate in the same way!

I think I can answer this question for you because Boma is one my family's favorite places to dine in Walt Disney World, and we have had to figure out how to get there from just about every location you can imagine within the Walt Disney World Resort!

The buses run directly from the Parks to the Resorts, so you are in luck!  All you will need to do is catch the bus to the Animal Kingdom Lodge from the Magic Kingdom, and voila!  You are there!

Remember, you may have to wait up to 20 minutes for your transportation, especially if you arrive at the bus stop just as the bus you need is leaving (ugh!  I hate it when that happens!)  That's 20 more minutes I could have spent in the parks!).  So, you will need to make sure that you allow for the longest amount of time it could take.   The bus ride itself should take no longer than 15 to 20 minutes.  And, you will want to arrive a few minutes ahead of your Advanced Dining Reservation.  So, to be on the safe side, I would plan to leave the Magic Kingdom about one hour before your reservation.

Now, if you get lucky, you might arrive at the bus stop just in time to catch the bus, and the entire length of your travel time could be less than 20 minutes!  If that's the case, you will have time to walk around the incredible Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort, pick up a beautiful birthday souvenEAR from their gift shop, and stroll outside on the verandah to see how many different animals you can view on their savannahs.  It is definitely worth getting there early!

Again, I hope you have a magical 50th birthday at Walt Disney World!
