I have reservations for Boma in the AK lodge. Do I have to leave the park , take a bus to the lodge and than back? ( extra magic hours) How long would that take? Would Yak and Yeti in the park be a better choice for a one and only visit to AK in Oct.?

    Hi Terri!

My family just returned from our most recent Disney adventure, and part of our stay was at the new Kidani Village at Animal Kingdom Lodge.  We included a wonderful dinner at Boma on our trip, and loved it!  The African-inspired buffet had options that pleased everyone at our table, from my daring husband, to very picky youngest son!

In order to get to Animal Kingdom Lodge from Animal Kingdom using Disney Transportation, you will need to take a bus to the resort, and then back to the park if you are planning on making use of Extra Magic Hours.  I would allot approximately 30-35 minutes, each way, to allow for the fact that you might "just miss" a bus.  Another option is a taking a taxi back from the resort to the park, which would be quicker, and would cost approximately $10-15, one way.

If you prefer not to leave, Yak and Yeti is a great alternative.  The restaurant serves pan-Asian specialities, including Lo Mein, Mandarin Chicken Salad and Tempura Shrimp.  Another in-park option is the Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom.  This safari-themed establishments has a huge menu and offers a fun atmosphere that kids generally love.

Whichever you chose, have a wonderful day at Animal Kingdom!
