Hiya, Stephanie!
Thank you so much for sending this
Disneyland Resort vacation planning question to us hEAR at planDisney!
Oh Boy! I love
Blue Bayou Restaurant. The ambiance, the themeing, the fancy menus with reading lights built in - everything about it just works for me. Blue Bayou Restaurant has become a pretty hot dining location in recent yEARs; I think it's because this is one of the few in-park locations that serves adult beverages, but it could also be because the
dishes served are just that fabulous.
Dining Reservations for table-service dining locations open 60 days in advance, and sadly most of the open tables for this eatery get scooped up pretty early on that day one. That doesn't mean you should give up trying! Guests cancel their plans all the time, and when they do their dropped reservations become available for others to book. Keep checking for openings; in fact, check for openings in your
Disneyland Mobile App during those little pockets of free time that you randomly find throughout the day, like when you're waiting in line at school pickup or are on hold with the cable company. You never know what you'll find!
Don't give up trying, either; sometimes you can get lucky and make a reservation day of by asking in person at the Host Stand. In fact,
my Disneyland panel pals and I were successful in getting a same-day table for eight in February! This works best if you can get there as soon as
Disneyland Park officially opens. But, Disney also recently introduced the
Mobile Dine Walk-up Availability, which is pretty much the same thing as putting your name on a list for a table, just through the app. Again, try this first thing in the morning, and note that you have to be near-ish to the dining location for it to populate. I'll keep my fingers crossed for some cajun-flavored pixie dust for you, Stephanie!
While I don't think that you should give up just yet,
Cafe Orleans is an amazing backup option, and even serves the same-ish
famous Monte Cristo sandwich as Blue Bayou. And no matter where you dine, you must stop at
Mint Julep Bar for some iconic
Mickey beignets.
I hope that this helped to give you a bit of hope, Stephanie! Be sure to follow the
