Reservations for ADRs and Specialty Cruise can be made 60 days in advance but is it 60 days from your arrival date or 60 days from first park day? Arrive on a Friday but 1st park day is Sunday. We want the best chance to get the restaurants we really want

    Hello Traci,

Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. Every time of year is a great time to celebrate The World's Most Magical Celebration, but summer months just have some added excitement. Parks are generally open later, so you can start early, take a leisurely midday break to get out of the heat, and then enjoy all of the nighttime shows to cap off your magical evening.

Specialty Cruises are such a special way to enjoy Disney Enchantment or Harmonious, and there are so many delicious dining options, it can be hard to narrow down the choices for your Advanced Dining Reservations. I'm sure you have some favorites in mind. I'm not sure where you are staying during your vacation, but if you are staying in a Disney Resort Collection Hotel, you'll be able to start booking your dining and Enchanting Extras, like the Specialty Cruise, 60 days before your resort check-in day. You can make reservations for up to 10 days of your vacation, so that's actually up to 70 days in advance. Dining reservations usually open up for each day beginning at 6:00 AM EST, but I recommend being ready to go earlier than that if possible.

With that in mind, I recommend being flexible with your reservation times. It's likely that you'll have better luck getting some of the more popular dining reservations for dates that are later in your trip, because guests who are not staying at a Disney Resort Hotel can only make reservations 60 days in advance, giving you a slight advantage.

I also recommend making a list of back up dining choices. In my experience, we've almost always had to "settle" on at least one back up dining location, and those have often turned out to be unexpected surprises for our vacation. Can't get a reservation for California Grill at Disney's Contemporary, try Topolino's Terrace at Disney's Riviera Resort or Toledo at Coronado Springs. Having trouble booking a specialty cruise? Try making a reservation for a Magic Kingdom Dessert Party or a Fireworks Dining Package at EPCOT.

Hope this helps. Have fun planning, and may you get some extra pixie dust when booking those 60 day reservations!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
