I have reservations for 2 adjoining rooms at Pop Cent (6 pers) I am considering changing to a similar room arrangement at Riverside.Thoughts you have on the pros/cons of this change would be helpful as we decide if the added cost (~$600) is worthwhile.

Staying at any Walt Disney resort hotel will help make your visit even more magical!  The biggest advantage for staying at Pop Century is it is more economical for your stay. You can save the money and use it perhaps on a nice dinner for your family, or reserve tickets for Cirque du Soleil ,or rent a boat for an evening fireworks cruise. There are many options for added excitement outside of the parks that you can enjoy!

Port Orleans Riverside is a beautiful resort and has a wonderful ambience.  It is one of the most popular moderate resorts at Disney and has many repeat guests.  It will have added amenities right outside your door including recreation opportunities and dining facilities.  Compare the two resorts at www.disneyworld.com.

Discuss among your family how much time you think you will spend in your rooms. If you think you will use the resort basically just for sleep then I suggest you keep the Pop Century reservation (which is my favorite value resort). If you feel you will use your resort for a lot of down time then I would make the change and get a reservation at Port Orleans.
