Hi Darlene,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. Tusker House is such a fun restaurant, and I cannot get enough of Donald and friends in their adorable Safari Gear.
On my recent Walt Disney World vacation, I too had a late morning reservation time at
Tusker House, and it was like winning the magical jackpot because we did get to sample foods from both the breakfast and lunch menus. I can’t promise that you will have this experience, because technically lunch begins at 11:00 a.m., so if you have a bit of a wait after checking in (which can happen at Disney’s Table Service restaurants), you may be seated closer to lunch time. However, we have found that this late morning time is usually a great time for a buffet reservation because of this magical meal changeover.
When we arrived, there were still breakfast options out, although some were being cleared away for lunch. Cast Members were mingling near the buffet letting Guests know that certain dishes were being cleared away soon. My family had one pass at the breakfast buffet, returned to our seats to eat and meet a few of the characters who rotated to our table, and then headed back to discover that lunch was served. We were able to try so many different dishes, and it all counted as one credit on the Disney Dining Plan. If you're paying out of pocket, I believe you will be charged for breakfast because your reservation time is within the breakfast period; you can ask at check-in to be sure.
Darlene, be sure to scoop up some of the breakfast banana bread pudding, which was a standout for me. On the lunch buffet, you will find a wonderful assortment of African-inspired dishes along with all-American fare, and I encourage you to try a little of everything. There was so much deliciousness on that menu!
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
