How do a make a reservation for the Top of the World lounge? I am interested in taking my family to see the fireworks. The website says that reservations are not required, but recommended.

Welcome back and "Welcome Home" to planDisney, Janet!

Congratulations on your new Disney Vacation Club Membership!  As a long-time DVC Member, I can tell you that there are so many magical experiences in store for your family in the years to come –– I can't wait for you to experience everything Membership has to offer.  And since there's no better way to do this than by pixie dusting your next trip with Member Extras, let me give you the scoop on one of my favorite Member-exclusive experiences at Walt Disney World Resort –– Top of the World Lounge - A Villians Lair.

Located atop Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Top of the World Lounge is the perfect Members-only spot for grabbing a swanky cocktail, enjoying a bite to eat, and heading out to the private observation deck for a perfect view of the fireworks over Cinderella Castle. And you're right –– the lounge is primarily available on a first-come basis each evening.  To enter the lounge (or to join the waiting list if it's currently at capacity when you arrive), you'll simply need to head to the check-in desk, located down the hall from the Bay Lake Tower lobby, and present your DVC Digital Membership Card to a Cast Member.

However, if you'd like to make a reservation and guarantee your spot in the lounge when you arrive, there are also a few ways that you can do so. First, you can reserve a table with the Wicked Wind Down. Available on nights when another special event isn't going on, this package includes your choice of a cocktail and appetizer, a dessert of the day, and a reserved viewing spot for fireworks. If you're looking for a little something more, Top of the World Lounge has also added two new dessert experiences for Members on select evenings –– the Enchantment at the Top Dessert Party and the Bound to be Bad Party. While each of these experiences includes a dessert buffet, a reserved table inside the lounge, and an open bar for Guests 21 and over, the Bound to be Bad party will be hosted by Villian superfans throughout the month of January 2023, and sounds like it's going to be full of nefarious fun.  Reservations for all three of these reserved experiences can be booked up to 60 days in advance by calling Member Services at (800) 800-9800.

And I've got one more tip if you plan to visit Top of the World Lounge without reserving a spot. On most evenings, the lounge gets busier as the night goes on, so in my experience, I recommend going close to when the lounge opens for a shorter wait. However, arriving for a cocktail at 6 PM EST isn't ideal for fireworks viewing (unless you plan to stay all night, of course).  Don't worry, though, even early birds like me can still get a great view from the observation deck –– all you need to do is come back later in the night and present your receipt, and you'll be able to head upstairs to the deck to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks (just keep in mind that access to the observation deck is subject to capacity limits).

Thanks for visiting planDisney, Janet.  I hope your upcoming visit to Walt Disney World Resort is filled with Membership magic from beginning to end!
