We have a reservation and tickets for Christmas 2023. My son joined the Marines and will not be able to join us. How can I take him off of the reservation without rebooking?

Hey Susan and welcome back to planDisney.

First, I want to thank your son for keeping us safe and wish him a successful time in the Marines. We are grateful for his service.

Second, the winter holiday is one of my favorite times to visit Walt Disney World Resort. From holiday trees at every theme park and hotel (some 60 feet tall) to the Storytellers and delicious treats at EPCOT, a winter Walt Disney World Resort vacation is a ho-ho-holiday of fun and memories.

With a Disney Resort Hotel Package, you may modify your reservation up to 30 days before your check-in date to avoid any penalty. It is quick and easy. To do it, hover over the My Disney Experience icon on the Walt Disney World Resort website in the upper right-hand corner. Float down to the My Plans section and click. On the next page, log in to your My Disney Experience account. Scroll down to your upcoming reservation and click Change Reservation. Here is where you will be able to alter your Disney Resorts Collection hotel, room type, Theme Park tickets (type, options, and days), your travel dates, and the members of your travel party. Easy peasy!

To avoid any penalties, keep this information in mind.

    1. Full refund - 30 days or more from your check-in date
    2. Full Refund minus original reservation deposit - 2-29 days prior to check-in date
    3. No refund - 1 day or less from check-in date
planDisney Pro Tip: I set a reminder on my smart device for 31 days before my check-in date to make sure to avoid any penalties. If you need any further assistance, a friendly Cast Member will gladly help you out. If you used a third-party travel agent then you will need to modify your plan through them and not with Disney.

Susan, please let me know directly if you have any follow-up questions. I am glad to help and to your son, thank you again for serving our country.

    Enjoy making many Magical Memories.
