Hi! We would like to make a reservation at San Angel Inn Restaurante but I have one picky eater teenage son and one with peanut and tree nut allergies. Can we order just chicken and rice meals for them, as I don’t see that option on the menu? Thanks!

    Greetings, Jennifer!

Welcome back to planDisney! This is such a great question. I have traveled with children with various dietary needs, and I understand that choosing the right restaurant can make or break your day! One of the things I love the most about dining at Walt Disney World is how accommodating each restaurant has been. Here are my top tips for dining with restrictions to help you plan the best trip ever.

Let's start with San Angel Inn. The atmosphere here is festive and fun, making it a great spot for your family to enjoy a meal. When booking your reservation in the My Disney Experience app, be sure to notate your party has allergies. This can be done by selecting Dietary Requests. You will also want to let the Cast Member checking you in for your reservation know about the allergies, and remind your server when you are seated. This location does list grilled chicken with rice as a side option on the Children's Menu. I have been able to order adult portions of Children's Menu options on multiple occasions (at a slightly higher cost than listed for a child's portion). You will need to check with the Cast Member serving your table to confirm this is an option at this location.

Okay, on to some helpful dining tips you can use throughout your stay. I recommend reaching out to the Special Diets team before your arrival! You can contact them up to 14 days in advance. Be sure to include all allergies in your party and mention your teenage son's preferences. You can inquire about dining at San Angel in this email, and the team will get back to you with a list of options that will be available during your stay. This was a lifesaver when traveling with my teen, who also has a very selective palate! I also recommend spending time getting familiar with all the dining accommodation options available to you. The Special Dietary Requests site is a great resource!

Finally, if you plan on using Mobile Ordering during your stay, you will be able to conveniently order from allergen-friendly menus. Just scroll down to the bottom of the ordering screen and select the allergen menu that works best for your family!

I hope your upcoming adventure is magical!
