Hey, hey Carlene, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I am so glad you want to make your next Disney vacation an even more enchanted "part of your world." You do not have to go "under the sea" to learn how to swim like King Triton and his daughters Attina, Alana, Adella, Aquata, Arista, Andrina, and of course, Ariel.
Mermaid School, part of the Enchanted Extras Collection, is available for those who want to to be like Ariel's daughter, Melody from The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea, and lose those legs and begin "flippin'" their fins. With a swimmable monotail, Guests four years and up will learn to swim as the mermaids do and perfect their dolphin kick. Currently, this underwater adventure is at three Disney Resort hotels: Disney’s Art of Animation Resort (Sundays and Thursdays), Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort (Wednesdays and Fridays), and Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts (Tuesdays and Saturdays). As of now, no classes are offered on Mondays. Classes are for 8 Guests a day and begin 60 minutes before the pools open with towels, monofins, and skins provided. Reservations may be made up to 180 days in advance by calling 407-WDW-PLAY (407-939-7529). The price is $50 per person (tax not included) and cannot be bought with a dinglehopper or snarfblat as some would hope. You know, some mermaids might trade lessons for a thingamabob. When you are done with the class and your legs return for jumpin' and dancin', you may order a mermaid skin and monofin $109-$119 (all prices subject to change) to be delivered to your home.
Disney Dad Tip: If you have an underwater camera or GoPro, make sure to bring it and ask the instructor if someone may video the swimming and underwater tricks.
Carlene, have a splashtastic time making many Magical Memories.
