Hi there, Carmen!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Wow! What an adventure you have awaiting you in May! I was just looking through the
Mediterranean itineraries this morning and reminiscing on my family’s Mediterranean adventure a few years ago! You will be amazed at how much you get to see and do – and you only have to unpack once!
I am so glad you came to us to ask your question about your son’s recent diagnosis and how to best approach it for your upcoming Disney Cruise Line vacation. While I cannot speak from experience with your particular situation, I can speak from experience with
dietary restrictions. I highly recommend that you contact Disney Cruise Line’s Special Services department at (407) 566-3602 to discuss the onboard food offerings and how to best manage it while onboard. It is also recommended that diabetic Guests carry a full supply of all necessary medications and medical supplies with them while traveling onboard. You will want to keep all medications in original containers and in your carry-on luggage and not in luggage that is being checked at the port.
I will say that Disney Cruise Line does an incredible job of giving ALL Guests the most magical of experiences while onboard when it comes to dining. I understand your concern with managing it onboard, but I do believe that between discussions with the Special Services department and your dining room servers (and even the chefs!), you will be able to ensure that your son’s dietary needs are met and he has the most memorable adventure with Captain Mickey!
Happy Sailing!
Stephanie
