Thomas from MD Asked Note: This answer was provided prior to the change to planDisney and may still contain references to Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Our reservation were made by a travel agent, can the reservation be transferred over to Disney?

    Hi Thomas,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Many moons ago I used a travel agency to book a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort for my family and then learned that I had to go through that agency to make changes to my reservation. At the time, they were not specialists with Walt Disney World vacation packages, so I grew increasingly concerned. Hopefully, your experience is not similar!

To verify my answer to your question, I contacted the Walt Disney World Resort at 407-939-5277 and checked with a cast member. The cast member indicated that you would need to contact the travel agency and ask them to release the reservation. Once released, you could then manage your reservation directly through the Walt Disney World Resort. Be advised that your travel agency may have additional guidelines, rules and/or procedures that you may have to follow.

Let me also add that when I did not feel as if our travel agent really understood Walt Disney World vacation packages and planning tools, I expressed my concerns to the agent who then connected me with a manager at the agency. They then connected us to another agent at the travel agency. The new agent was much more knowledgeable!

Now that I have planned several Walt Disney World Resort vacations, I feel much better about managing my family's vacation packages and plans! I always keep track of the Special Offers so that I can make sure we are getting the best possible deal. In the past, if I saw a special offer released after I made a vacation package reservation, I have called the Walt Disney World Resort directly and asked if that special offer could be applied to our existing reservation. There are no guarantees that it can be applied, but I have been successful in the past and saved us money.

Thomas, I trust that you will be able to resolve this issue and continue planning for your upcoming vacation! Remember to make your advanced dining reservations 180 days in advance and FastPass+ selections 60 days in advance if you have a Walt Disney World Resort hotel reservation and valid theme park tickets or Annual Passes

In honor of the opening of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, I shall also say, May the Force be with You!

    Magic and memories,
