If I have a reservation at Kona Cafe before the parks open, and I'm staying off property, where should I park, and how do I get into the park in time for my reservation?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Ami!

You are counting down the weeks until your Walt Disney World Resort vacation, and I’m so excited for you!

Before we talk about logistics, I just need to say: mmmmmmmm, Kona Café. This is seriously one of my favorite dining locations anywhere at Walt Disney World, and you are in for a treat. Not only is Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort just so gorgeous, but you will feel those vacation vibes wash over you as you walk past the tiki torches and waterfall at the entrance and into the gorgeous, amazing-smelling lobby. Breathe it in and enjoy, Ami!

Because you have a dining reservation, you should be allowed to park at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort while you enjoy breakfast, and self-parking is complimentary there while dining, shopping, and exploring. This restaurant is outside the theme parks, so you won’t have trouble getting in before Magic Kingdom Park’s operating hours. Please note, though, that there is a chance you'll be asked to park at the Transportation and Ticket Center, as this resort's parking lot is small, and is first-come, first-served, with resort Guest parking a priority.

If you’re planning on heading to Magic Kingdom Park after breakfast, I recommend parking at the Transportation and Ticket Center first, then hopping on the resort monorail to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. You won’t be able to leave your car at the resort for more than three hours, and getting towed would NOT be magical, so it’s easiest to park first, enjoy breakfast, and then take the monorail into Magic Kingdom Park afterward. Since you’re not staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, standard rates will apply for parking at the Transportation & Ticket Center.

Enjoy your breakfast! At Kona Café, I love the Macadamia Nut Pancakes with pineapple sauce, and I’ve heard rave reviews of the Tonga Toast too. I also can’t get enough of the Liliko’i Juice, which is a blend of orange, passion fruit and guava (this juice also makes a delicious mimosa, if you’re into that kind of thing). Yum!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
