We have a reservation at Jiko while our 7 year old is in Simba's clubhouse, but we would like to bring our 15 month old with us (too young for Simba's). Is this an appropriate restaurant in which to bring a baby, or would another AKL rest? Thanks Moms

    Hi there Kim,

Of all the restaurants at Walt Disney World, Jiko is among my favorite!  I just love the African inspired flavors, the stunning decor, and top notch presentation and service which is commonplace at each Disney Signature restaurant...The extensive wine list isn't too shabby either!

Jiko is considered a Signature Dining Experience, which means the atmosphere will be  little more upscale and subdued.  That said, children of all ages are always more than welcome at pretty much every dining location around property with the exception of Victoria and Albert's which imposes a rule that guests must be 12 and older.

I have dined in Jiko with my daughter since she was three and we have never had any problem so feel free to bring your little one along! If you book a later reservation, there's a good chance that the little tyke might be sleeping and if that's the case, you can push a stroller right up to your table so you won't have to wake those tired eyes!

If you think you may be looking for a nice dinner that is a bit less formal, you should definitely check out what I find consider to be one of the hidden gems of Walt Disney World, Sanaa, which is located in the Kidani Village area of Animal Kingdom Lodge!  The menu consists of African-inspired cuisine featuring many dishes that have been cooked inside of their genuine Tandoor oven.  I almost forgot to mention the view... imagine floor to ceiling windows overlooking the savanna.

The third option would be to consider hiring Kidz Nite Out, a childcare service approved by Disney.  Kidz Nite Out will send a certified Nanny to sit with both of your children while you and your hubby enjoy dinner!  They can read books, color, and watch movies in the room while the two of you spend a romantic evening together on the savanna!

    Best Wishes,
