We have a reservation for Hollywood Studios on Wednesday April 6. On that particular date, the park is closing at 5. Do you know why the park is closing early that day? Should we be concerned/switch our reservations around? Will it be busier that day?

Hello Sharon and welcome back to planDisney!

The countdown to your magical vacation is on and I bet it seems even more "real" now that operating hours have been released for all four Theme Parks! I can tell that you're a well-prepared "Disney" traveler since you checked out the hours just after they were released! Having the knowledge that Disney's Hollywood Studios will have shorter hours that day will help you change (or keep) those Park Pass Reservations and let you better schedule the rest of what is sure to be a wonderful trip.

I do not have any knowledge of the reason behind the early closure at Hollywood Studios that day, but I have noticed that in the past Parks have closed early for a variety of reasons, including private and/or Cast Member events. One of the joys of having a My Disney Experience account or mobile app is that you're able to change your Park Pass Reservation with just a few clicks, so you're welcome to wait to decide until the last minute as long as reservations for other parks are still available.

If you love the way your vacation schedule works out right now you might want to leave it how it is. I personally think that instead of being busier, you might see fewer Guests flocking to Disney's Hollywood Studios that day. Because of the earlier closing time, many Guests may choose another Park to visit on this day, thus lessening the crowds and wait times. If you're staying in a Disney Resorts Collection hotel I would suggest getting up bright and early on this day and planning to arrive for "rope drop." This way you'll be able to quickly ride some of your favorite attractions, like Slinky Dog Dash, before the Park even opens to the public! Using Disney Genie+ Service this day will help you maximize your time on rides and attractions instead of waiting in line for them.

The evening after the Park closes is the perfect time to head to Disney Springs for a delicious meal at Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' or extra-special event like Drawn to Life Presented by Cirque du Soleil® & Disney. I was able to see this show during my last visit to Walt Disney World Resort and I have to say I've never seen something so incredible.  It would be a mesmerizing way to end your evening!

Another option would be to add the Park Hopper Option to your ticket and be able to enjoy two (or more!) Parks in one day. This would allow your family to keep your current reservation but also visit a different Park in the evening. You could also "hop" back to Hollywood Studios another day if you want to revisit some of your favorite attractions.

Whatever you choose, I am positive you and your family will have a fantastic trip. Please come back and see us again if you have any other questions!
