Janet from CA Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

I have a reservation for 8 guest with Park Hopper tickets for Friday, 30 December. I would like to purchase 2 more, but currently the calendar is showing unavailable. Is there a chance that availability can change getting closer to the date?

    Hi there, Janet!

Ooh! That sounds like so much fun to be able to enjoy the Disneyland Resort with such a large party. I hope this works out for you. Let’s go over the policies and some possible options for you.

As you are aware, each Guest who visits the theme parks at the Disneyland Resort must have both valid theme park admission and a theme park reservation. Park reservations are limited. So it is possible to see some days that have run out of reservations.

    1. Yes, theme park reservations can become available, even after they initially run out. Other Guests may need to change their plans. So when they cancel their reservations, they may become available to you. You should closely watch the theme park reservation availability calendar for openings that come up. The moment they do, quickly swoop in to buy your additional tickets and book those reservations.
    2. Plus up the magic of your visit to the Disneyland Resort by booking a stay at one of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels. Then, you can take advantage of theme park reservations exclusively for hotel Guests! While staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel doesn’t guarantee park entry, these additional park reservations usually help a lot. My family and I used this option to ensure a fun-filled New Year’s Eve celebration at the Disneyland Resort last year. It was a splurge for us, for sure. But I have no regrets. As a bonus, we enjoyed a relaxing, easy-going morning on January 1st at the Disneyland Hotel pool. That was probably the highlight of our trip. Mmm! I can still remember the taste of those delicious Lava Smoothies from the pool bar.
    3. If things don't work out to find an available park reservation this time, you may still have the option of rescheduling your existing reservations for another date. Check the confirmation email from when you purchased your park tickets to verify the ticket expiration. As long as your tickets are valid, you may visit the "My Theme Park Reservations" page to cancel existing reservations and book for other available dates.
    4. In a worst-case scenario, even expired tickets might be used at a future date. A standard ticket must be wholly-unused for this option. Simply visit a main entrance ticket booth to upgrade the tickets to valid tickets, paying only the difference in price from the original price paid. Then, book new park reservations for those new tickets.

Janet, I’m wishing on a star that things go well for you in the hunt for available park reservations. If you have any more questions, please visit us at planDisney again.
